UPDATE! Allan has now (Feb 2000) been able to reorganize the posts into siub-threads similar to those below. This makes it much easier to follow the discussions in the orginal formats. (The archived files below do not contain any of the special features such as italics which may have used in the original postings.)

During the process, the discussion "threads" got very difficult for us and other observers to track. I asked Allan if it was possible to make the order of posts less confusing. As it turns out this is very difficult to do once the posts have been made. So, as an attempt to help with that, I've copied all the posts from the discussions to date into a series of main threads of discussion, with some subthreads. Generally the threads are in date sequence so that the most recent postings are in the highest numbered threads. Again, there might be a better way to organize this.

The timing of these posts overlaps somewhat, which makes it difficult to to organize in a serial fashion. The allocation into these threads is my judgement and may not be the best. If I have made errors that need to be corrected let me know. No intentional edits were introduced, however I'm inept at this, so let me know if things should be different.
