Friday evening and Saturday, Roy discusses various theories for the
origin of the universe. They consider what the theories can and cannot explain
and what we know about the origin of the universe from God's Word. Weather
permitting during the weekend studies, students have opportunities to view
some celestial objects directly through our telescope. During evening observations,
the moon and planets such as Jupiter, Mars and Saturn are favorites. The
Pleiades star cluster, Andromeda galaxy and the Orion nebula are also sometimes
visible depending on the season and light pollution. During daylight hours
Roy fits the telescope with a solar filter, which allows safe viewing of
the sun. Features such as sunspots are easily visibile.
